Video sessions provided our family with more regular access to therapy, ongoing support and has guided me in the right direction. It has been so valuable for my son, without it we wouldn’t be where we are now.” – Parent

“It encouraged me to step back as a therapist, and learn to provide direction to parents so they are able to work on tasks and activities with their child. This enables parents to feel more confident in working towards goals outside of therapy.” – Therapist

Online Therapy FAQ’s

What are the benefits of online therapy for me?

With the current coronavirus situation the benefits of online therapy are more important than ever:

  • More frequent contact with your therapist
  • Increased flexibility with scheduling appointments
  • Reduced travel and travel costs for your family
  • Reduced risks to yourself and your family in leaving your home
  • Increased family engagement during sessions
  • Less disruption to the family routine
  • Increased confidence and empowerment for parents following the sessions.

How can I access support for equipment?

We’ll work with other providers, through video-conferencing, to find creative ways to provide support with equipment that’s related to any physical challenges.

What privacy measures are in place?

We’ve implemented a number of features to protect your privacy during online therapy sessions, including locked meetings, waiting room features, and unique password protection, for platforms that don’t have end-to-end encryption.

What if I’m not sure it’s right for me?

Give us a call. Speak to your Therapist and they will talk you through the process and how other clients are using online therapy services.

What if I decide to cancel my online therapy session?

If you do decide to cancel, please give us 48 hours’ notice, or service fees will still apply as per the NDIS cancellation policy.

How are fees calculated?

You are required to supply your own technology – either a smart phone, computer or tablet, with camera, microphone and good internet connection. The NDIS has recently announced that participants can access funding for technology to support therapy and exercise services. Speak to our team if this is a barrier for you to access our online therapy services.

Video sessions are charged similarly to face to face sessions, i.e. from the beginning of the scheduled session time through to the end. The only difference is there’s no travel costs.

Just like face to face appointments, our staff need to complete progress notes, and these are kept to 15 minutes. Where your therapist dedicates time to prepare for your session, this will be charged. Charges such as tailored session preparation are discussed with you.

What if the technology doesn’t work?

You will not be charged for technology issues that occur at our end. If these occur during the session (at your end) – our staff will charge for the standard appointment time. If there’s any uncertainty with where the issues are, you will not be charged.

Please speak openly with your therapist if you are unsure about charges for video sessions or any aspect of your service. Note the above information relates to NDIS and fee for service only.

Privacy

Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. We’ve implemented a number of measures to protect the privacy of our clients during online therapy. Read about our Online Therapy Guidelines for more information.

Online therapy service appointments will be scheduled at a time that suits you. If you do decide to cancel, please give us 48 hours’ notice, or service fees will still apply as per the NDIS cancellation policy.

Your therapist will be in touch to arrange an appointment through this service so you can receive ongoing care and support.
